LOCAL ART FOR CHRISTMAS

Local Art for Christmas, a group exhibit and sale of paintings, drawings and photographs by Lake Norman area artists, is on display at Davidson Town Hall, 216 S. Main St.

The show, which will be on view during Christmas in Davidson and through the month of December, includes paintings by Judy Latham, Sandie Bell and Ellen Patterson; drawings by Casey Bumann and photographs by Megan McFadden.

  • Megan McFadden says: “I grew up in Davidson and fell in love with photography my junior year at North Mecklenburg High School when I took my first darkroom photography class. After high school I moved to San Diego where I studied photography for the last three years at San Diego City College. In 2012 I got the opportunity to travel to Cuba for one week with a group of photographers. I have always had a desire to travel far and wide, that trip to Cuba inspired me to follow my dream of pursuing travel photography. In September I moved back home to Davidson where I will stay for the next year and save money for my next journey abroad. http://www.meganmcfoto.com
  • Sandie Bell has lived in the Lake Norman area since 1993 and is a member of Mooresville Arts (Mooresville Artist Guild). She draws her inspiration from the breathtaking colors of sunrises and the ever-changing views of the lake. She also paints where she travels. Her work has been exhibited and won awards throughout the area. She attended Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. Her work has won numerous awards and is in private collections throughout the country. http://www.sandiebellart.com/
  • Ellen Chaney Patterson is a Mooresville artist and member of Mooresville Arts (Mooresville Artist Guild). She paints in acrylics, watercolors and mixed media. She studied art at the University of Arkansas at Monticello with an emphasis in metal/three dimensional work in silver and gold and copper enameling. “Art is more than a hobby for me. It’s a passion, it is how I capture and celebrate life,” she says. Ellen’s work can be found in private and corporate collections. http://ellenpattersonart.com/
  • Casey Bumann of Davidson is a sophomore at Hough High School, where she enjoys art, chorus and theater. Her drawings are in pencil and charcoal. “Art is a way for me to express events that have affected me personally. When I draw, I feel as if I’m in a different world, immune to everything around me,” she says.
  • Judy Latham has been a Davidson resident since 1996, and paints landscapes, pets, and people. She works as a Human Resources Manager and enjoys drawing and painting in her spare time.

The artwork will be on display during business hours and special events at Town Hill through Jan. 15. Interested in buying something? Contact the artists directly.
